W. E. Ticas

Walter Estever Gonzalez, writing as W. E. Ticas, is a Salvadoran-American writer and poet based in Long Island, New York. Born in San Jorge, El Salvador, a town beneath the Chaparrastique volcano, he draws upon personal experience, historical memory, and cultural heritage to explore memory, displacement, war, identity, faith, and survival.

He is a member of the Voices Israel Group of Poets in English. His poetry, essays, and fiction have appeared in The Times of Israel, The Jewish Literary Journal, Dark Poets Club, Voices Israel publications, and the Voices in Verse 2026 anthology. Through poetry, essays, and fiction, his work examines how individuals and communities endure loss, change, and hope.
